Some of you might have already read the blog
post<http://learninglearning.wordpress.com/2011/07/25/passing-on-school-of-webcraft-do-you-want-to-work-on-the-project/>that
I just put up, but as of the end of August I'll be leaving my paid
role
within School of Webcraft and transitioning to the far more glamorous but
less financially rewarding position of Volunteer Community Member.
It's been a really amazing year since I first was dropped into the School
and at the same time, thrown into the P2PU community and started helping
build the School of Webcraft community.
That word we bandy around so easily, "community"? I don't think you know how
important you've all been for me, whether I've had a chance to meet up with
you in the real world or just seen you on this list, community calls, Skype
or IRC.
Over the last year I've moved around a _lot_ what with being in a long
distance relationship, traveling a bit for work AND being an Australian
based in Europe, which necessitated a couple of important trips down under.
It sounds fun, but in reality it's exhausting and you never really feel at
home (throw in an anxiety disorder and a lot of the time I've felt downright
miserable too).
Through all that time the *one* community space that has stayed fixed for me
has been P2PU and honestly, without you all and the shared purpose we have I
don't think I'd have made it.
Thank you.
I'm looking forward to continuing to be a part of this community and helping
P2PU grow.
Of course, now that I'm finally living with my fiance and based in Linz,
Austria I also get the chance to start finding my feet within my local
community too. Which is why as a Volunteer Community Member I'm wanting to
clarify how we use meetups to connect with local learners and explore how we
negotiate local and online peer learning. Hopefully, I'll finally improve my
German too.
P2PU-Deutsch anyone?
Thanks again! The future... And beyond!
