[p2pu-dev] Notes from Community Call - 1 November 2012

Hey folks,

I'm working with two student groups here at University of Michigan that 
plan to use the P2PU platform to host content. 

I'm wondering what is the timeframe for the launch of the new platform? For 
both of these projects we can use other spaces (blogs or Google docs, most 
likely) to develop the content and port them into P2PU later but it'll be 
an extra step.

Background on the two projects at U-M: 

I've got one student, Victoria Lungu, who is working on a learning module 
for her Information Literacy course. Earlier this semester she used the 
"Get CC Savvy" course to teach an in-person peer-based workshop (
http://victorialungu.weebly.com/1/post/2012/11/fun-fridays-what-we-did-what-we-learned-what-next.html). 
She wants to either expand some of the School of Open stubs (like the 
Public Domain Detective) or create a new course for the School of Open and 
explore how to generate a course in P2PU that facilitates both online, 
personal learning, and in-person peer learning. She's concerned about 
putting a lot of time into developing content for this assignment that 
might not translate well onto the new platform.

I'm also working with the A2DataDive student team (http://a2datadive.org/) 
to figure out how we might be able to use the P2PU platform to organize and 
share out both the process and results of our participatory, peer-based 
data analysis events (datadive). Last year we put this stuff up on a wiki 
and hosted the output on Open.Michigan's collection<http://open.umich.edu/education/si/resources/datadive/winter2012>but we've been talking with the School of Data folks and the A2DataDive 
goals/activities align very closely with the School of Data 
goals/activities. We're experimenting with using the P2PU platform as a 
space to collect, organize and help translate the activities and resources 
of the datadive into a global network.
