(Moving to separate thread - unrelated to sign-up process)
It's clear we need to look at the notification / messaging again. We haven't
found the right balance yet between sending all the relevant notifications,
but not too many.
In terms of letting users reply to discussion forum posts by email, the
discussion feature is going through a revamp for webcraft (much nicer
threading - and feels more like a real discussion forum) and we will look at
the e-mail integration again. Sorry that this was pushed along for such a
long time!
