[p2pu-dev] question about readability of text on the site - font color too light?

Hi,

Long time no speak from me, busy busy and all that.

However I couldn't resist this topic : )

Line height, face and colour are the ones to play around with.

I've done a little experiment here >> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4948426/readability.html

I know there is little change of adopting a serif font on the site, but to me the most readable is

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4948426/readability.html#p8

I used to think it was a case of 2/3 with font-size and line-height, but that's not always true. For instance I think the 14/21px sample is fantastic

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4948426/readability.html#p6

but the 16px font with the 2/3 line height

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4948426/readability.html#p7

doesn't seem as readable as the 16px font with 32px line height.

Also ( I think I got that from the elements of typographic style ) I try to make sure that the text is such a size so that it has about 60-80 characters in it. This makes going from one line to the next easier.

Line height always seems to do the trick for me.

Just my 2p

Cheers,

Jamie
