Hello good people

As most of you will know, one of the outcomes of the last board meeting was
that the Board have agreed that we should actively pursue small donations
as a means of fundraising for P2PU. One relatively easy way to do this
would be to set up a PayPal Donate button on the site, which will allow
people to make small donations (under U$100 000) to P2PU through the site.

I've been looking into the logistics of this, and it's a relatively simple
and straightforward process (if anyone is particularly interested, you can
find the details of how to do it on PayPal's Donations page:
http://bit.ly/b8srqy). We just need to create a PayPal Business account,
register with them as a nonprofit, supply them with some documentation, and
then put a donate button on the site.

There were a couple of issues that various members of the community were
concerned about, and I think I have answers for you on all of them:

Q: Do donors need a PayPal account to make a donation?
A: No! Yay! Donors can use a PayPal account or a credit/debit card to make
a donation.

Q: Will it cost us more than the donation is worth to accept small
donations?
A: No! Yay! The pricing on donations between U$0 and U$100,000 is 2.2% +
$0.30 and we can set the minimum donation, so it will never cost us to
accept a donation.

So the next step will be for us to set up the account, sort out the
documentation, and get the button on the site. Once that's all organised,
we can start thinking about formalising and creating a killer campaign that
will get the money rolling in.

If anyone has any questions about this, or want to discuss it a bit more,
please feel free to do so, either here, or off-list.

Here's to making our first million by the end of 2012...

Best
Bekka
