Hi Carol. Sorry about the issues you're experiencing, and thanks for
reporting them.
There are various factors that could influence this:
- users can change the frequency of their notifications, and can stop
notifications totally, so some may only receive a daily digest, some weekly.
If the frequency is immediate (the default) then the messages do get queued
an sent every 15 minutes, and if there are a lot of messages queued, it may
take considerably longer.
- there are different parts of the system that emails go through before
finally being sent and delivered so I'll have to look at each of them.
I haven't been able to pick up any errors in the logs, but that doesn't mean
there's not a bug somewhere.
So, firstly, I'd suggest we do the following: if you could post another
broadcast messages asking people to check that they are subscribed to your
course notifications. They can do this by going to their subscriptions page
at http://p2pu.org/user/me/notifications/subscriptions and see if there are
entries for your course in that list. There should be the following:
Content type in group Psychology of Math Learning, Assignment Submission
Content type in group Psychology of Math Learning, Shout Box
Content type in group Psychology of Math Learning, Event
Content type in group Psychology of Math Learning, Document
Content type in group Psychology of Math Learning, Assignment
Content type in group Psychology of Math Learning, Announcement
Content type in group Psychology of Math Learning, Forum topic
Thread Psychology of Math Learning
If they don't have these, and they didn't choose delete them themselves,
then you can ask them to add them or let me know and I'll do it.
Obviously, if the broadcast message doesn't work, then they won't get the
instructions, so at the beginning of the message, perhaps ask them to send
you an email if they receive the message, or you could ask them to comment
on a forum discussion topic to let you know.
If this is sounding too complicated or you don't have time, then I'll be
happy to contact your course members individually to check the above
settings.
I will also apply for your course so we can test what notifications we both
get.
