In fact, this is also all a step of the process that you just described.
Google Groups provide us very little control, whereas with mailman it would
theoretically be possible for us to subscribe all the users in a given class
to a given mailing list for example. And in the future, this will probably
provide some of the backbone for the email integration - we are working on
this!
