+1 for second option: there may be many users who had accounts on the old site who are no longer active. on-demand migration gives us better data about the who is actively interested in p2pu. it also actively draws users to interact with the new site. given how awesome the new site is, i think this will also serve as an all around good advertisement for where we are as an organization. it may re-engage people who have lost their way and fallen off the free-learning path! :p. <br clear="all">

Account registration on the old site is disabled already. This means<br>
that we can decide what to do with users that have accounts in the old<br>
site and not in the new one. The two main options are:<br>

1) Import all user accounts from the old site and provide a "delete"<br>
functionality so users that do not want to have an account on the new<br>
site. Cons: the data of how many users we have is compromised.<br>

2) Keep supporting the on-demand migration of accounts (if the user<br>
logins with their username/password from the old site), and rely on<br>
the migration email/notification that is going to be send to all the<br>
users of the old site (so the interested subset of those users comes<br>
voluntarily to the new site). Cons: future broadcasts to all users<br>
will only include users that decided to login on the new site.<br>

In any of those cases the usernames of old users will be reserved<br>
because we are linking to the old profiles based on that id.<br>
