Recently I started playing with the idea of how we could translate content,
especially tasks and how the general community could be aware of activity
and content across different languages.

Compared to other courses, for Webcraft  there needs to be  consistency in
the activities and content  that our learners move through - whatever your
spoken language, your web developer skills should be consistent.
So it would make sense for  there to be an English Javascript group linked
to Spanish and Indonesian versions of the groups using translated content
where possible.  However content should be originally created in any
language and able to be translated into any other language.

Of course, the Webcraft use case is very specific and our goal is to have
people learn the same, very specific skills across multiple language groups.
Presumably this content will be created first in English, but I'd like for
us to be aware of what skills are in demand in different communities and to
appropriately respond - eg. very simple mobile development might be popular
in some places, other communities might want to develop R2L interfaces or to
build localisation tools. Ideally, topics like JavaScript would be
consistently tagged across languages - so people would know they can create
a new language group for an existing WEbcraft topic.

of learning about new topics that aren't on my radar and I want to be aware
of a global community of P2PU learners.

For example at the workshop last year in Barcelona, Ana Rosa from the
Brazilian community suggested that English language audiences might be
interested in learning about Paolo Freire - a Brazilian educator. Most
related content is in Portuguese - so how can English learners learn at the
level of the portuguese community?

Rather than having an entirely different group for each language, the
original Portuguese and English Paolo Freire groups would be connected - as
new content was added, or new tasks created the other language would know
and we'd be able to create localised versions.  Where possible we'd be able
to view activity from linked groups in different languages.

For this it would be great to "turn on" an option to browse groups and
content in every / specific languages.

Anyway, it's an idea that I'd like to discuss further.

(note: I am not fluent in any language besides English, with intermediate
German and French skills - so I don't really know what the  localisation
process is like.)
